About my free verses for cards

Welcome to my blog of free verses for cards.
Most of us appreciate a nice greeting card don't we, & a lot of us prefer to have a verse inside the card too. The problem is, we don't always want the verse that comes with the card. We perhaps like the card front, but want to change the inner verse. You can do that with the cards in my store, but what if you can't compose your own greeting card verse? There are lots of verses for cards on the internet, but many of them are the copyright of the verse composer.
Here on my blog, verses for cards for free, I have composed all of them myself, so you need have no worries about intellectual copyright.
The only thing I ask, is that if you want to use a free verse commercially, please contact me first so that I know where it's going to be used.
If you do use one of my free verses, it would be nice if you would bookmark my blog, or better still, put a link on your blog, website or social networking page!
Here's the first of the free verses, and I will be adding more regularly, so please pop back & check it out.

Verse writer's block!

Writing anything is great fun. It forces one to get the little grey cells going and it also jogs the memory about all sorts of wonderful and forgotten things.
The trouble is, some days, things flow like wine and other days, like treacle or molasses.
So, how can you get into a wine like verse writing mood?
The way I do it, is to bring back a memory. It doesn't have to be a great event, something quite small and seemingly non memorable, that did stick in the mind will often be the best trigger of the day.
For instance, I once had a darling cat that, when the mood took her, would sit at the top of the stairs in a crouched & menacing pose. She would then stare at the dog, who although many times her size, would sit obediently at the foot of the stairs until she decided to let him past. It always brought a smile to my face, and I recalled this to write a small verse.

Darling cat with stony glare,
Sits atop the bedroom stair,
Silent tail moves to and fro,
Eyes fixed on the dog below.

Cowering mastiff twelve treads down,
Knits his brow in wrinkled frown,
Never dares to move an inch,
The feline threat soon makes him flinch.

A stand - off, no negotiation,
His whine expresses mutt's frustration,
Yet still he sits, too scared to climb,
She'll let him through, in her good time.

A verse for a serving soldier, (or airman, or sailor!)

We can't always put into words just how we feel when a partner is away serving their country.
So, I've designed a card that anyone can send, male or female to a serving soldier, airman or sailor to say exactly what's in your heart.
